Description
The plugin is based on the new announced API by Spotify, better known as the Spotify Play Button. With this plugin you can easily share you music with other Spotify users.
Usage
You just need to place a Spotify HTML link into your post. The links should look like these:
- Track:
https://open.spotify.com/track/4IJUii1lg0IRLBs0yG1w2p
- Album:
http://open.spotify.com/album/4pT0rlFvHYc46KyEhmCy88
- Playlist:
http://open.spotify.com/user/sonymusic/playlist/1BVPSd4dynzdlIWehjvkPj
Customizing the output
To customize the output you need to place your link into the [embed][/embed]
shortcode.
To use the light theme use [embed light]link[/embed]
.
To show the cover art use [embed coverart]link[/embed]
.
To change the height and width of the iframe use [embed height="xx" width="xx]link[/embed]
.
Another option is [embed size="compact"]link[/embed]
or [embed size="large"]link[/embed]
Example
http://open.spotify.com/track/14bppok2E8CC0eTemJc92i
will give you this Spotify Button.
I installed the plugin and it only shows four songs from a playlist of 22. What am I doing wrong?
Could you post the link from the playlist please?
Good but songs are not playing directly from website they are demanding to download sportify at last to listen them
Music plays through Spotify, so if you or your visitors don’t have/use Spotify it’ll need to be downloaded.
Hi, Can I embed a playlist into a text widget? I have no trouble embedding an album or song but when I try my playlist it says playlist empty…
It would be interesting how you get the other types working. Because the
[embed]
shortcode shouldn’t work in a widget, even if you use the filter.I would like to know as well because It doesnt matter how I paste the playlist, your plugin either doesnt load it or tells me the playlist is empty.
I have tried it as a widget, or the embed code and on a page.
Could you please post a link to a playlist which doesn’t work for you?
Thanks.
I might be being a bit stupid…
I use Spotify downloaded onto my computer
Spotify gives me 3 options
COPY HTML
COPY SPOTIFY URL
COPY EMBEDED CODE
Your plugin needs a Spotify HTML – I simply do not seem to be able to get the player, i can just get a link to spotify
Right, you need the HTML link. Then you need to copy the link into your content.
Not sure what your problem is. Maybe you can give some more details.
Hi! I would like to post my playsit on the home page, not into a select post. how do i do that? thanks so much!
Is it a static page or do you use the pages from WordPress? If you use the pages from WordPress you can insert the link on these too.
If it’s a static page you can do it by hand. For details see this page: Spotify Play Button.
Dominik, thanks i have it working now, it looks ace.
I have one final question, is it possible to align it with other aspects of the webpage. I am trying to use it on this page: http://asongaday.co.uk/?p=15 and i want it alongside the youtube video, is there anyway to do this? thanks in advance, and thanks anyway for a great plugin
You can center the iframe for example with this:
<p style="text-align:center">[embed]Here your link[/embed]</p>
(Use it in the HTML editor.)
Hi!
I’ve used it on my wedding site http://danielysusana.com/?p=68 The plugin is great! Simple and easy!
But since some days ago it’s not working anymore. I says: Sorry, this playlist is empty.
But the list is ok: http://open.spotify.com/user/sonesu/playlist/2mJH9F0Z5idYYfS1x3Vyu7
I’ve put it with embed and no embed tags and still the same :(
Any help?
Thank you!
Hey,
sometimes the API returns this odd message. I already reported this issue upstream, no answer yet.
But at the moment it seems to work again.
It works in a widget if you use the Custom Post Widget plugin.
Hallo.
Vielen danke. Sehr schon.
Gluckwunsch vom Dänemark :-)
I´m trying to add the player to a WordPress-page. I wasn´t the one creating it so I have some difficulties adding the player. Where in the HTML-editor should I put in the playlist I wan´t to add? Can I write /embedd it anywhere in the HTML-editor.
I´m new to this, sorry.
And thank for your help.

I think I solved it :)
Thanks for a nice plugin.
A wish for future versions would be simple settings for standard display of the player. I feel it’s way to much height at the moment and would prefer a smaller standard display.
Once again, thanks for your work.
Any way to wigitize this? I’d like to have playlist or list of playlists in my sidebar.
Thanks!
MHB
Used to work. Now it does not. It will not bring up the spotify play button with the album art.
Hi,
So I copied and pasted this link in the content of my blog and it just shows up only as a link, not as the player. Not really sure what else I’m supposed to do for the player to come up.

hi, Can I add the playlist to a text widget?
Am I entering this code correctly? I’m still getting the dark player: [embed light]https://play.spotify.com/user/ohsnaphappy/playlist/4W8oIiyFrDR44VHZrMkpB1[/embed]
