It’s May 27, 2023, where people all over the world are celebrating the WordPress 20th Anniversary.
I’m so grateful that WordPress exists, and not only as a software but also because of the incredible and lovely community that has made WordPress what it is today! 💞
Some of my WordPress highlights during the last two decades:
- January 16, 2009: Created my WordPress.org account
- February 24, 2010: First core props for a small bug fix 🥳
- April 11, 2013: Got commit access to WordPress core
- February 24, 2015: Took over the technical point of contact for core/dotorg i18n
- January, 19, 2016: Led the GlotPress 1.0 “Bunsen Honeydew” release, the first GlotPress as a WordPress plugin
- August 16, 2016: Led the WordPress 4.6 “Pepper” release 😮💨
- January, 2017: Started my first full-time role at required as a WordPress and Web Engineer
- September 15, 2018: Talked about “WordPress Translations Demystified” at WordCamp Tokyo 2018
As we blow out the candles on WordPress’s 20th birthday cake, let’s raise our virtual glasses and toast to the incredible journey so far. Happy birthday, WordPress! May you continue to thrive, inspire, and be the driving force behind countless online (and offline!) adventures for years to come.
